Fontanetti's Most Valuable--2010
Fontanetti's had another strong season in 2010 with a 30-18 record to date. While the team was younger overall and building to the future, we still managed two tournament victories, at Fairfield and Santa Rosa, a 2nd place finish in league play and a respectable 3rd place showing in the Stan Musial Sectional Tournament. Hitting standouts included Richie McDowell, .397 ave and 36 RBI's--team leader, Mike Durham, .376, 2 home runs, John Hanley, .372, 32 runs scored--team leader, 15 SB's also led the team, Danny Dyer, .340, 31 RBIs, 2 home runs, 7 doubles, Greg Gonzalez , .327, over 20 runs scored and RBIs, 23 BBs, amoung team leaders in on-base percentage at .455, Greg also solidified the catching position with just 2 passed balls and 6 runners caught stealing, with only one error on the summer. Richie McDowell is the offensive MVP for 2010, his team leading .397 ave, 36 RBIs, and just 4 errors while playing a stellar shortstop combining for an outstanding summer. On the pitching side, Mike Menolo was 7-2, 1.80. , Pat McClain 5-2, 2.44, Paul Brock 3-2, 1.27, Shian Vidange 4-4, 2.47, and Chris Drake 3-0, 2.23. Mike Menolo's 7 wins broght him outstanding pitcher for 2010 Honors. We look forward to an even stronger 2011 as Fontanetti's adds participation in the PWBL Northern Division to it's schedule along with participation in the newly formed Best of the West Tournament Hosted by the Humboldt Crabs--an 8 team end of season event which s/b a blast. See you in 2011.

Fontanetti's Loses in Santa Rosa
Fontanetti's lost two consecutive games in Santa Rosa to be eliminated from the sectional tournament. Mike Menolo got the club off to a strong start with a 5 hit shutout of eventual Tournament finalist Oakland Expos, winning 2-0. However, Shian Vidanage's fine performance, one earned run , was spoiled by Santa Rosa in the nightcap as we lost 2-0, gathering just 2 hits and as many walks--4 total baserunners. Rich McDowell, Danny Dyer and John Hanley led the hitting attack but it was too little too late as we fell 7-5 to rival Palo Alto to be eliminated. Fontanetti's has four games remaining on the schedule but at 30-18, our record improved slightly over last year, and we look forward to the 2011 season.
