The following supplementary discipline is being administered by Commissioner Casey Cook.

Victoria at Maple Ridge.

Commissioner’s Ruling:
Supplementary Discipline:
 
The Commissioner assesses a $1000.00 fine to the Victoria Shamrocks Lacrosse Club for failure to control the bench and/or actions of their players. (Previous pattern of players coming off of the bench to enter an altercation).
                                                  
The Commissioner assesses a $1000.00 fine to the Maple Ridge Burrards Lacrosse Club for failure to control the bench and/or actions of their players. (Previous similar circumstances on Aug. 9, 2014 game)
                                                   
Suspensions:
 
Victoria Player – Clint Westwood  – 3 Games – Leaving the bench to get into an altercation.
Victoria Player – Ben McCullough – 2 games – Leaving the bench to get into an altercation.
                                                                             
Maple Ridge Player – Kevin Reid – 2 games – Prolonging a fight and hitting a player in a vulnerable and defenseless position.
Maple Ridge Player – Aaron Davis – 1 game – Prolonging a fight and hitting a player in a vulnerable and defenseless position.
Maple Ridge Player – Tyler Codron – 1 game –  1st player to be 3rd man into an altercation.
 
Background:
 
Game 2 of the final series between the Victoria Shamrocks Lacrosse Club and the Maple Ridge Burrards Lacrosse Club had a total of 61 minutes in penalties assessed (up to the mid-point of the 3rd period) by the referees in an attempt control the game. The last half of the 3rd period saw a succession of fights, presenting conditions that, from a safety perspective, were of extreme concern.
It is the responsibility of the clubs to exercise control over the actions of their players, where those actions present safety concerns. Failure to do so requires disciplinary action to be taken by the League to prevent recurrence of such situations.

Players Ejected – 17

Notes:
The supplementary discipline being administered has taken the following into consideration:
1. The safety and well-being of all participants in the game.
2. The Governors of the WLA have made participant safety the top priority in how games are conducted and have instructed the Commissioner to consider supplementary discipline in the following situations: 
A. A blow delivered to the head area
                B. A hit to the back
                C. Situations where 2 or more fights occur simultaneously.
3. WLA Operating Policy Part 4.0 Suspensions, Fines and Appeals and Part 3.0. Club responsibilities. 
4. The WLA 2014 Suspension Guidelines. 
5. Previous history of players and clubs and of fines and discipline administered
6. The image and integrity of the WLA and of the game.
7. Video review was used in determining this supplementary discipline.
