The KCHL Awards were selected by the coaches and league mangers early in the week and Jeff Keith of the Midland Aces has been selected as the regular season and playoffs MVP's. Keith managed to beat out teammates Dale Gray(regular season) and Chris Gray(playoffs) to win both awards respectfully. Dale Gray was selected as the leagues top goaltender with the best GAA. The KCHL's version of the Art Ross Trophy for the regular season scoring leader goes to Adam Beechin of The Millstream Bucks who has been no stranger to this award over the years. Midland defenseman John McConchie was voted best at his position, taking the award over Josh Kilpatrick(Millstream Bucks) and Darren McGinnis(Sussex McGinny's Mooselights). The Rosalie Totton Award which is given to The Most Dedicated Player was awarded to Dan Bonney of The Hampton Spartans who beat out past winner Chris Gray of Midland. The Jonathon Armstrong Award for Top Rookie came down to 2 Hampton Spartan players as Matt Galley narrowly beat Dan Gamble to win the honor.
I would also like to give honorable mention and thanks to Shane Kyle, Greg Balcolm, and Kevin Wynn for working the door and timekeeping all season. Dan Bonney did an exceptional job starting and operating the new Hampton club by himself from what I can tell. The Sussex coaches Brad Fulford, Brent Robinson and Bob Chamberlain of Midland who have played a big part in keeping this season going and giving it a proper finish. Last but not least Chris Gray for all the work and effort scheduling, setting up meetings, and organization behind the scenes for this league. You all should know that without you guys this year we never would have made it to the end of the season and with the decisions you have made this year puts us as a league in good shape moving forward. It's a thankless job to volunteer your time to give us "the players" somewhere to play "competitive" hockey in the Sussex Area.
