King County Royals
Royals lose first road game, 130-116 in Bellingham
- Submitted by
Mike Parker and Jacob Stevenson both topped the 30-point plateau as the Bellingham Slam defeated the King County Royals, 130-116, in an American Basketball Association game Saturday night at Whatcom Pavilion.  Parker and Stevenson scored 33 and 31 points, respectively, to pace four Slam players in double figures.

The Slam used a 22-10 run in the final six minutes of the first half to distance themselves from the Royals, then were able to extend their lead to 33 points in the third quarter, at 91-58 with 1:22 left in the quarter on a Mike Jones jump shot.

With Bellingham’s reserves in for the fourth quarter, King County was able to make things respectable as they poured in 53 points to narrow the deficit.  King County outscored the Slam 20-3 in the final 90 seconds to get within 12 points, but they could not get any closer.  The 53 points scored was a new team record for the Royals for points scored in a quarter, and also a record for the Slam for most points allowed in a quarter.
King County was led in scoring by former Husky Jamie Booker with 34 points.

The Royals continue on the road for their next three games as they travel to central California next week.  Their next home action is on Wednesday, January 17 as they again face the Maywood Buzz at 8 p.m. at North Seattle Community College.
