11:10 am Warriors 49 vs. Vancouver Haphazards 85
In the 1st, the Haphazards were all over the court in the passing lanes and they controlled the offensive glass. In the 2nd, the Warriors were attacking and getting to the rim, while the Haphazards kept their transition game churning and scoring on the break. In the 3rd, the Warriors had a brief run, but they couldn’t sustain it and entered the final quarter trailing by double-digits. In the 4th, the Haphazards locked down their paint defense and dominated the boards.
Honourable Mention goes to Graeme for his scoring efficiency and timely buckets.
12:20 pm South Slope 79 vs. Sonic Boom 57
In the 1st, Sonic Boom took advantage of mismatches and jumped ahead early, before South Slope made a run in transition to keep things close. In the 2nd, South Slope attacked the rim, penetrating the defense and Sonic Boom couldn’t hit from the stripe. In the 3rd, South Slope started the quarter shooting 3s, and Sonic Boom kept pounding the ball inside, but their offense frequently stalled. In the 4th, the game was all but over, and South Slope couldn’t keep themselves together to mount a rally.
Honourable Mention goes to Jordan for his game-long hustle and game management.
1:30 pm Sky Patrol 67 vs. All Business 69
In the 1st, All Business started the game with strong ball movement along the perimeter and Sky Patrol started by dominating the glass and hitting from inside. In the 2nd, All Business had a 9-0 to stake them to a lead, but Sky Patrol kept finding and exploiting mismatches to stay within a possession. In the 3rd, All Business were outhustling Sky Patrol and started to turn the tide on the glass. In the 4th, All Business hit clutch 3s to keep themselves just ahead of Sky Patrol, before sealing their trip to the finals from the stripe.
Honourable Mention goes to Mike for his offense, knocking down tough shots and defending the opponent’s best interior player.
2:40 pm Goodfellas 44 vs. Spartans 68
In the 1st, the Spartans and Goodfellas started with poor quarters and neither side was able to get their offense flowing. In the 2nd, the Spartans got into the bonus and used that to push their lead up, but they let the Goodfellas hang around by putting them on the line. In the 3rd, the Spartans slowly kept increasing their lead in transition and the Goodfellas started to show their fatigue. In the 4th, the Spartans never let up and ensured they punched their ticket to the finals.
Honourable Mention goes to Liam for being a key factor in the deciding 3rd quarter.
