11:10 am South Slope 50 vs. Sonic Boom 49
In the 1st, South Slope used ball movement to take the lead, while Sonic Boom played iso ball, working 1 on 1. In the 2nd, South Slope kept themselves ahead, barely holding a 1 point lead despite a multitude of turnovers, as they forced steals to match Sonic Boom. In the 3rd, Sonic Boom kept attacking and tied the game, despite both teams locking down on defense. In the 4th, South Slope managed to hold off Sonic Boom despite the offensive struggles from both teams.
Honourable Mention goes to M. Morrison for his crucial buckets to take back and hold the lead.
12:20 pm Warriors 44 vs. All Business 57
In the 1st, All Business took a 10 point advantage of the Warriors inability to rebound, and dominated the time of possession. In the 2nd, the Warriors kept pace, but couldn’t make up any ground. In the 3rd, the Warriors started the second half red-hot and managed to tie the game up. In the 4th, All Business took back control, but the Warriors kept fighting and played close until right at the very end.
Honourable Mention goes to Mike for his work across the board and strong defense.
1:30 pm Goodfellas 72 vs. Spartans 65
In the 1st, the Goodfellas took a one point lead, behind good defense. In the 2nd, the Spartans took the lead, going up by 4, due to good ball movement. In the 3rd, the Goodfellas swung the lead in their favour again, taking the lead of 5 into the 4th. In the last quarter, the Goodfellas held off the Spartans and hit their FTs to ice it.
Honourable Mention goes to Matt for making majority of baskets for his team.
2:40 pm Vancouver Haphazards 110 vs. United 43
In the 1st, United couldn’t grab rebounds or make shots consistently. In the 2nd, the Haphazards were too strong in the paint and United couldn’t hold them. In the 3rd, United forced a lot of shots and made bad paasses, while the Haphazards were too big and skilled for United. In the 4th, nothing changed.
Honourable Mention goes to Berg for his 44-17 and Graeme for his well rounded game.
3:50 pm Sky Patrol 72 vs. Grizzlies 63
In the 1st, the Grizzlies took a 3 point lead, with both teams basically trading buckets until the very end. In the 2nd, Sky Patrol took a 3 point lead of their own, despite getting outrebounded. In the 3rd, Sky Patrol kept pouring it on, and pushed the lead to 18. In the 4th, Sky Patrol had a bit of a scare, but the Grizzlies couldn’t make it out from the big hole they dug.
Honourable Mention goes to Brent for his crucial baskets in the 2nd to help get and maintain the lead.
5:00 pm Renegades 71 vs. Bad Omens 60
In the 1st, the Renegades started slow but came on late and got to the stripe to help them to a 5 point lead. In the 2nd, the Bad Omens took back the lead, going ahead by 5, thanks to their defense. In the 3rd, the Renegades fought hard and took advantage of bad communication to tie the game. In the 4th, the Renegades kept attacking and traded baskets early, before the Bad Omens D faltered and the Renegades pulled off the W.
Honourable Mention goes to Dejan for his crucial scoring late in the game.
