2013 Season Cancelled

Brampton Inline Hockey Inc.

Hello Members,

I'm following up with our membership as it pertains to an email correspondence that was sent out back on January 14th regarding the state of affairs of the league and its future.

There have been many attempts to assemble a new executive board to run the league; however at this time I report to you that these attempts have proved futile. The league finds itself at a crossroads where our membership base has dropped off and thus our resource base for volunteers is just not there. With that said I regret to convey to you that there will not be a 2013 inline season.

Inline membership numbers as a whole have been on a decline for the past few years however here in Brampton we have suffered a drastic drop in registrations. Why is that? Inline hockey competes with many other sports in Brampton such as, soccer, lacrosse, ball hockey, 3 on 3 and the list goes on, all which are great sports.

The executive committee has prided itself over the years with providing its members and the community it serves with both a great inline hockey experience as well as the lowest inline hockey registration fees in the inline community. However these alone and our grassroots programs were unable to sustain the registration numbers and growth all stake holders would have liked to have seen.

The league has had open dialogue with the City of Brampton on numerous occasions and has supported us throughout this process. Although the City would have liked to assist with the leagues continued operation, they too don't have the resources to support it and nor is the City in the business of running minor sports leagues.

So it is the understanding of both the City and the league that there will be a one year hiatus for Brampton Inline Hockey Inc. with the hopes and expectations that during this time we will be able to assembly another passionate group of volunteers to take the reins and continue this great sport.

At this time I would like to personally thank all of the past and present members for their support and I would be remiss if I didn't recognize and thank the members of the executive who have served countless hours of volunteer time of the years.

In closing I can assure you that Brampton Inline Hockey “Radicals” will remain the only affiliated minor sports inline hockey organization with the City of Brampton until further notice. Please feel free to visit our website for any updates and also feel free to contact the city.

Regards,
