- Submitted by
In this week’s Youth Hockey Round-Up we focus on the Leafs statement win over the Stars, the Royal Knights and Barnstormers exciting race for first place and B&B Arsenal’s continued dominance of the 17 & Under Division.

14 & Under Division

Royal Knights 7 – Levittown Rangers 0  F
The Royal Knights continued to roll this past Sunday, easily defeating the Levittown Rangers for their fourth straight win. Aidan Schwartz and John Breiffeller both scored twice in the game for the Knights. Schwartz now has 7 points on the spring, good for the fourth most in the 14 & Under division.

Also lighting the lamp for the Royal Knights in this contest was Ryan Steinberg, Frank Mollnari and Stephen Leftis. Kevin McKenna earned the shutout victory in net.

Barnstormers 10 – Avengers 3  F
The Barnstormers were able to keep pace with the Royal Knights in the standings on Sunday, also earning a blowout victory in their matchup. Dylan Powers led the way for the Barnstormers with a hat trick and the division’s top scorer Piotr Piatkowski chipped in with a pair of goals.

Kevin Beller earned the victory in net for the Barnstormers. James Hanley was a bright spot in the loss for the Avengers, scoring twice.

Looking Ahead
The Royal Knights and Barnstormers remain neck-and-neck for first place in the 14 & Under Division. There are no games this Sunday because of Mother’s Day, but league action will resume with the exciting matchups of Royal Knights vs. Avengers and Barnstormers vs. Levittown Rangers on May 15. The Royal Knights and Barnstormers will then meet for a crucial matchup on May 22.

17 & Under Division

B&B Arsenal 3 – Weenie Hut Juniors 1  F
First-place B&B Arsenal improved to a perfect 6-0 this past Sunday, coming away with the victory in a close contest against Weenie Hut Juniors. Quinton Baldauf gave up just one goal in net for the Arsenal, and his strong effort was backed up by teammate Ryan Naviloff’s two-goal performance. Navlioff currently ranks seventh in scoring in the 17 & Under Division.

Brendan Reese also was a strong contributor to B&B Arsenal’s win, dishing out two assists. Brandon Baumen scored the lone goal for Weenie Hut Juniors, and goaltender Michael Burns put forth a strong game between the pipes in a losing effort.

Leafs 5 – Stars 0  F
It was the Leafs who came away victorious in one of last Sunday’s most anticipated matchups, as they shutout the Stars and jumped into sole possession of second place in the 17 & Under Division. Leafs netminder Pat Loftus took on a starring role in the game, making sure none of the opposing Stars shots crossed the goal line behind him. R.J. Downey also came up large in the game, finishing with two goals.

Dakota Jackson added a goal and two assist for the Leafs in their victory, and the club also got goals from Chris Geniale and Matthew McPhillips. Jackson and Geniale both rank in the top-ten in the division in points this spring season.

Wildcats 5 – Avalanche 2  F
Lucas Maclowe continued his fantastic spring season on Sunday, picking up the hat-trick to lead the Wildcats to their first win of the spring. The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game’s opening period, and a 15-save effort from goaltender Jacob Klee helped make sure their lead was never relinquished.

Josh Yakvbovich was also a key performer for the Wildcats, registering a goal and an assist. Andy Pandalino and Greg Pandalino each scored a goal for the Avalanche in the contest.

Looking Ahead
The 17 & Under players will also be off for Mother’s Day, but will be back with a trio of exciting matchups the following Sunday. The Weenie Hut Juniors will take on the Avalanche, the Wildcats will face-off with the Leafs, and B&B Arsenal will look to keep their record perfect against the Stars.
