ATTENTION TIMBIT PARENTS
- Submitted by

Attention TimBit Parents:

Due to recent new enforcement of age restrictions for Rep and Select programs by the OMHA we have been forced to modify our TimBit and Mite programs to allow us to provide the best development opportunities for players of all abilities in this age group. The following is a breakdown of the new levels for this age group:

1.  We will have a single Mite team (Mite 1) team that will play in the Novice HL loop.

   - This team will be picked during the first weekend of the Mite tryouts (this weekend) and function as our traditional Mite 1 teams have in the past
   -  The Mite 1 team will be subject to age restrictions as outlined by the OMHA and Hockey Canada

2.  There will be no "Mite 2" team selected during tryouts

3.  We will institute a new "Squirt" loop that will constitute four teams who play in Milton

   -  Players for these four teams will be selected in conjunction with the Mite tryouts after the Mite 1 players have been selected
   -  These players will be pulled out of the Timbits program to allow them to develop with similarly skilled players and to allow the Timbits program to focus on earlier stages of hockey skill development
   -  The squirt teams will have two weekly development sessions rather than the weekly development/monthly game that TimBit players are allotted
   -  There will be an extra fee (approx. $210 per player) to cover extra ice time for the Squirt program
   -  We MAY decide to form an "All-Star" team comprised of the top players from the Squirt loop to provide extra development at the top end of the talent spectrum. This will not happen until after a TBD date in December.
    - these players will continue to skate twice weekly with their Squirt team and will participate with the All-Star team for extra development
        -  this team may have the potential to participate in exhibition games with other centres and possibly a tournament and thus players will be subject to age restrictions as outlined by the OMHA and Hockey Canada
        -  there will be appropriate additional fees for players selected for this team

4. We will continue to have a traditional TimBits league, and no tryout is necessary to participate.

   - schedules and teams will be announced later this month after Squirt teams have been selected and ice time has been allotted.

We apologize for the short notice on our Mite program changes that were brought about by recent modifications to OMHA policy.  Please rest assured that our coaches are prepared to implement the new policies and will help guide you and your players through this and next weekend's tryouts.

Good luck to all players at the upcoming tryouts!

Sincerely,

Curtis Akerman
