Week 9 of the Sportime roller hockey season is in the books. Here are the highlights.
Roller “A” Platinum
-The L.I. Blazers are now tied for first place in the Platinum division, after defeating Good Beef 9-2 on Tuesday. Cory Triola was a dominant force in the game for the Blazers, burying five goals.
-The Swamp Donkey picked up a victory in a wild one against The Coasters on Wednesday, winning by an 8-6 final. Gerard Clayton was the star of the night, registering a five goals before the final buzzer.
Roller “B” Gold
-OMLB pulled even with Irish Exit for the most points in the Gold division, after a 4-3 win over Redds Wicked on Wednesday. Goals Mike Liska and Steven Alini sparked OMLB to their fifth win of the fall.
-The Labeda Empire Snipers are now on a three-game winning streak, after coming up with an impressive 8-1 win over Irish Exit on Wednesday. Dan McGrath helped carry his team to victory with a five-goal effort.
Roller “C” Silver
-The Red Rockets are looking dangerous as ever, after scoring 13 goals in a victory against the Halifax Highlanders on Sunday. Nick Mangia and Chris Meyer each had hat tricks in the game for the Rockets, who picked up their fourth straight win.
Roller “Z” Bronze
-The Pineapple Express picked up an important win for their playoff chances on Sunday, defeating WTF by a 7-0 final. Nick Tsistinas was an impact player for the Express, scoring four times.
-After blowing a 4-0 lead, the Back Lot Boyz got a late goal from Connor Robertson to hang on for a 5-4 win against the Brews Brothers on Sunday. Joe Kennedy also scored twice in the game for the Boyz.
-The Circus picked up their second win of the season on Tuesday, upsetting the Torpedoes, 5-3. Goaltender Anthony Senatore made 22 saves to help backstop The Circus to two points.
-On Friday, White Buffalo made sure The Circus’ success was short-lived, as they defeated them by a 4-3 final. Jeff Went had a three-point night for the Buffalo, with a goal and two assists.
Roller “Rec” East
-Jawz picked up a crucial two points in the standings on Tuesday, shutting out Cobra Kai, 2-0. Keith Goldstein was perfect in net for Jawz, turning away all 26 shots fired in his direction.
-Onslaught also picked up an important win via the shutout on Tuesday, as Onslaught defeated Electric Mayhem, 4-0. Jason Beickert finished the night with 21 saves, while teammate Mike Rivera had two goals.
-An overtime goal from Frank Devito finished off an impressive comeback for NSOP, who defeated the Road Warriors, 3-2 on Wednesday night. Goaltender Ritchie Rodriguez helped NSOP get to extra time, finishing with 19 saves.
-Three second-period goals helped Onslaught pick up a 4-3 victory over the Road Warriors on Friday. Pete Caliendo, Terry Neofitos, Alex Guy, and Chris Antos all scored in Onslaught’s second win of the week.
-NSOP is now a perfect 9-0 this fall, after defeating the Gonzos, 7-4, on Friday. Frank Devito led the way for NSOP, with three goals and two assists.
-The Electric Mayhem looked playoff ready on Friday, as they defeated Jawz, 8-1. Ray Kenchik delivered three goals and three assists in the contest.
Roller “Rec” North
-The Sharks got going early on Sunday against the Puck Boys, scoring four times in the first period, to come away with a 4-3 victory. Joe Cangro was a key contributor for the Sharks, scoring two goals, and assisting on another.
-The Zambronies inched closer to the playoffs on Sunday, by defeating Old Skool, 5-2. Derek Andreone came up big for the Zambronies, scoring two goals.
-The Dragons put up a seven spot in the first period of their game against Covfefe on Sunday, and went on to win the game, 9-5. Dennis Reed and Mike Ermann both celebrated hat tricks in the contest.
-The Wet Banditz doubled up Sticks Out For Harambe on Tuesday, defeating them by an 8-4 final. Ed Armellino and James McDade carried much of the scoring load for the Banditz, each registering three points.
-Old Skool bounced back strong on Wednesday, to pick up a thrilling 7-6 win over the Dragons. Sal Nicchia was the game’s high scorer, as he registered two goals and an assist.
