Adelaide Adrenaline are Australian Champions

The Adelaide Adrenaline are 2009 Australian Ice Hockey League National Champions after their 3-2 Overtime victory over the Newcastle North Stars in Newcastle's Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday night.

The Adrenaline, who had a comfortable 6-1 victory versus the Melbourne Ice on Saturday night, met the Minor Premiers in the North Stars, who had run down a Gold Coast Blue Tongues lead in their Semi final to win 5-3.

New Zealand Wins Series At Winter Games

New Zealand's Ice Blacks recorded their first ever win versus an Australian team when the Senior Men's team defeated the combined AIHL team 5-4.

The Ice Blacks won the following shootout to win the series and the first ever trans-tasman Continental Cup.

The result was in great contrast to the previous night's game when Australia defeated the Kiwis 8-2 in the first of two ice hockey "Tests".
